Description
Shelling cocoa beans produces shells and husks, and sorting removes off-grade beans: broken, flat or rejected beans. These by-products have real commercial value.
They are used in animal feed after treatment, as garden mulch, as biomass fuel, or to extract theobromine and fibre. The exact nature of each lot determines its commercial category and its customs classification, under HS 1802 or 1801.
